OSHA 8 Hour Hazwoper Training Course
Overview: This course provides the 8 hour refresher training requirement mandated by OSHA under 29 CFR 1910.120. All training materials are provided at class. Students are expected to participate in hands-on exercises, group tabletops/scenarios, and PPE dress out.
- Session 1: Introductions, course overview, emergency operations plan review, terminology, and basic risk assessment.
- Session 2: Chemical properties and injury potential, site specific hazards, and case studies.
- Session 3: Reference material review, managing the incident, and protective isolation distances.
- Session 4: Practical use of air monitoring and determining IDLH atmospheres.
- Session 5: PPE and respiratory protection
- Session 6: Decontamination
- Session 7: Spill and leak control
- Session 8: Scenarios and case studies

OSHA 24 Hour Hazwoper Training Course
Overview: This course provides the refresher training requirement mandated by OSHA under 29 CFR 1910.120. All training materials are provided at class. Students are expected to participate in hands-on exercises, group tabletops/scenarios, and PPE dress out. This course expands on the 8 hour refresher going further into an emergency response and providing more hands-on activities.
Day 1
- Session 1: Course overview, Incident Command, Site Management, Identifying the Problem (Risked Based Assessment)
Review of reference material including
- Emergency Response Guidebook
- NIOSH Pocket Guide
- Material Safety Data Sheets
- Scenarios of IDLH Assessment including
- Emergency Operations Plan Review
- Establishment of command and the command post
- Safe approach and positioning
- Establishing protective zones and securing an area
- ID the hazard based on labels and placarding
- Interface with outside response agencies
- On site analysis of chemical hazards including a walk through
- Session 2: Hazard and Risk Evaluation
- Atmospheres that harm and toxicology
- Practical use of air monitoring and test papers to determine IDLH
- Chemical quick mapping of site specific chemicals
- Case studies
- Hands on air monitoring and test paper exercises

Day 2
- Session 3: PPE and Respiratory Protection
- PPE
- PPE selection and hands on donning/doffing
- Respiratory protection (Air purifying, PAPR, or SCBA) training with hands on donning/doffing
- Session 4: Implementing the Response Objectives
- Spill Control, containment, and confinement
- Leaks, breaches, and catastrophic failures
- Session 5: Decontamination and Termination of the Incident
- Types of decontamination and proper location
- Hands on decontamination exercises
- Steps of incident termination
Day 3
- Session 6: Scenario Based Training
- Tabletop scenarios in small groups
- Field scenarios
- Final scenario

OSHA Site Supervisor Training Course
Overview: This course is designed for Site Supervisors who manage hazardous material site workers. This training meets the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120.
- Session 1: Introductions, course overview, incident command, site management, site safety plan, and emergency operations plan review.
- Session 2: Hazard and risk evaluation including the use of air monitoring equipment.
- Session 3: PPE selection and respiratory protection.
- Session 4: Spill and leak control.
