Employers and employees have the responsibility of working together to ensure workplace safety. Employers contribute by ensuring their employees have the tools, safety equipment and other resources to do their job effectively. In contrast, employees contribute by making sure they correctly use the resources to ensure the job is done safely and effectively.

Always Use the Proper Tool for the Job

A tool can be perfectly safe, but only when used correctly to perform the job. It is natural for people to reach for whatever tool is closest to take care of a job quickly, but the price of convenience can lead to injuries that leave people out of work and prevent the job from getting done. Even if an injury doesn’t result from improper use of a tool, damage can occur and cause unnecessary expense.

Always Wear Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment

A safety harness cannot help during a ladder accident if it is hanging outside the break room instead of being worn properly. Likewise, a reusable respirator can only protect from breathing in harmful particulates if you have been fit tested and take the time to make sure you are wearing it properly. Get the picture? No matter how much safety equipment and personal protective equipment your employer provides, it isn’t very helpful if you don’t uphold your end of the bargain and take advantage of it.

At Clarey’s, we take pride in offering the latest and most effective tools and personal protective equipment to workplaces and workers.  We hope you’ll do your part to keep your workplace safe.
